Eight More Drug-Related Arrests

Following is the text of a press release issued by the police department on Friday.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, 28 October 2005
EIGHT ARRESTED ON DRUG, OTHER CHARGES
NEW HAVEN – Police arrested eight men last night in locations throughout the city.
Vincenzo Amendola, 40, of North Haven, was arrested in the area of Ferry and Lombard streets and was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized one bag of crack cocaine.
In the area of Downing and Lombard streets, police arrested William Taft, 34, of Branford, and charged him with criminal trespass in the third degree and interfering. At 293 Clinton Avenue, Christopher Wronowski, 20, of that address, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school.
Anthony Cuevas, 17, of 186 Pine Street, and Denny Perez, 18, of 194 Pine Street, were arrested in the area of Grand Avenue and Lloyd Street. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school.
Outstanding warrants were served on the following individuals:
Tyris Redd, 31, of 19 Level Street, was charged with fugitive from justice, failure to appear in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protective order;
David Maher, 50, of 32 Rowe Street, was charged with failure to appear in the second degree, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension, misuse of a marker and insufficient insurance; and failure to appear in the second degree and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension.
Francisco Torres, 33, of 107 Chapel Street, was charged with failure to appear in the first degree and larceny in the third degree; failure to appear in the second degree, failure to obey a stop sign, making an improper turn, reckless driving, disobeying an officer’s signal, improper parking and failure to notify DMV of address change; and failure to appear in the second degree and interfering with police. He was also arrested on a warrant from East Haven.
