Most Valuable Neighborhood Specialist

You can usually find Tracy Claxton in the Dwight neighborhood working as a specialist for the New Haven’s Liveable City Initiative. On Tuesday, she was in Norfolk, Virginia, on the campus of Old Dominion University, to have her old laundry memorialized. Specifically, Claxton’s jersey was being retired. In 1985, New Haven native and former Wilbur Cross star led the Old Dominion Monarchs women’s basketball squad to the national crown. The six-foot two-inch forward was named most valuable player in both the 1985 Sun Belt Conference Tournament and the NCAA Final Four.
