Sandra’s on Whitney Avenue was the site Monday night of a launch party for this year’s New Haven Non-Profit Academy. The Empower New Haven-backed program trains people at not-for-profits to build their organizations. (For info about how to get in on next year’s class call Alejandra Silva at 776-2777 or e-mail her.) This year’s class includes people from The Color of Words, Connecticut School of Survival, Jeremiah Project, Nubian Sister’s Cancer Support, Group, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Sister’s Journey, United Teen Connections Incorporated, St Luke’s Episcopal Church, Casa Otonal, Children in Placement, Community Mediation, Coordinating Council for Children in Crisis, New Life Corporation, Youth Rights Media, Abundant Harvest Outreach Ministries, Everlasting Word Outreach Ministries, Faith Family Christian Center, Hillhouse Thunder and Lightning Drill Squad, Nation Drill Squad/Drum Corp, Reverend Ray’s Outreach Ministries, St Paul UAME Church Youth Department, Amistad America, and New Haven Homeownership Center.
