One in ten people in Connecticut don’t have health insurance — the highest percentage in New England, according to a report released Tuesday by the Universal Health Care Foundation. And most of those 356,000 uninsured people have jobs. As part of its campaign to bring universal health care to Connecticut, the foundation introduced the report’s wide-ranging findings during briefings for lawmakers and advocates at the Capitol. Click here to read the whole report, which is entitled, “Mapping Health Spending and Insurance Coverage in Connecticut” and breaks down the impact of the system’s failures on racial groups and the elderly. (Disclosure: the foundation contributes money to the Online Journalism Project, which publishes this web site.) “Health care premiums are rising much faster than wages. Families and business simply cannot keep up, ” said foundation President Juan Figueroa stated in a release. Click here to read the Courant’s story on reaction to the report.
