Malloy Weighs In On Jobs

First Gov. Rell unveiled her jobs “plan.” (Basically starting noticing where new jobs are; and cut rich people’s taxes even more.) Then John DeStefano, one of the Democrats seeking to unseat her, released a jobs plan seeking to steer aid away from the wrong companies and invest in the workforce. The other Democrat seeking to unseat Rell, Dannel Malloy, released his jobs plan Thursday. He called it “Every Job Matters.” It includes a wide range of proposals ranging from a “Buy Connecticut First” plan for state contractors to the creation of a new not-for-profit organization called “Venture Connecticut” to oversee a comprehensive jobs strategy. Click here for a summary of the plan and a link to the full text. Malloy vows to create 100,000 jobs by 2010. DeStefano Spokesman Derek Slap took this swipe at the plan in a statement: “Dannel Malloy’s goal for job growth strives to achieve mediocrity; his hope is to only match the national average. DeStefano wants to make Connecticut a top ten state in job growth.”
