LEAP got $800,000. Tweed-New Haven, $600,000. The Arts & Ideas festival, $1 million. The East Shore, $1 million for Morris Creek flood control. JUNTA for Progressive Action, $75,000. The Arts Council, $126,000. The “Youth@Work” program, $900,000. In all, the state budget just passed in Hartford sends New Haven $3.1 million more than it expected. That means more money for the schools and a lower tax hike than expected, Mayor John DeStefano announced Tuesday. (No details yet.) He praised New Haven’s state delegation for coming through. (No mention of the governor.)
