Empty Hands and Hallucinations

Someone broke into Fair Haven’s R-Bar at 169 East St. Monday night looking for some loot. All they found was an empty cash register, worth about 75 bucks. So thieves took that instead. … In East Rock, a couple walking home at 108 Lawrence St. at 11:30 p.m. Monday was confronted by someone with a handgun asking for money. The couple didn’t have any, so the would-be mugger left. … Also Monday night, a woman thought she had seen a five-year-old boy in a striped shirt walking alone across the Tomlinson Bridge at 9:45 p.m. She kept driving, then called police. Cops rushed to the scene within one minute, interviewed dozens of people, but could not corroborate her story. Seeing no evidence of a wandering boy, and no reports of missing children, police gave up the ghost. M.B.
