Heat Relief

The city is opening up air-conditioned senior center and homeless shelters as a refuge for people struggling with the heat wave. Emergency shelters will stay open all day each day through Wednesday. And senior centers will stay open 9 a.m. through 8 p.m. each day. Here’s where they are: Atwater Senior Center, 26 Atwater St.; Bella Vista Senior Center, 339 Eastern St.; Dixwell/Newhallville Senior Center, 255 Goffe St.; East Shore Senior Center, 415 Townsend Ave.; West River Senior Center, 1562 Chapel St.; Westville Senior Center, 349 McKinley Ave.
