Candidates Rally Black Vote

In an unusual twist for a state election, the black vote continues to figure prominently in the two dramatic Democratic primary campaigns now in their final day. Click here to read about the reaction Lamont received, meanwhile, during a visit to New Haven’s Gospel Fest. Lamont’s opponent, incumbent U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, made a last-ditch attempt to explain his unpopular Iraq position. Both Lieberman and DeStefano, who have since their support erode in the past two weeks, seek to reverse the momentum with bus tours around the state Monday, although a new poll shows Lieberman tightening the gap.
