Malloy, DeStefano Seek Last-Minute Spark

With just days left before the hard-fought Aug. 8 state Democratic primaries, the gubernatorial contest — not the U.S. Senate race — may be shaping up as the unpredictable drama to watch. Dan Malloy (top photo) is hoping to capitalize on the momentum of a string of newspaper endorsements and a leap in the polls. New Haven’s John DeStefano, appears subtly to be seeking to catch some of the wave of excitement around Ned Lamont’s Senate campaign, with joint appearances with the likes of Jesse Jackson (at left).
