Tattoo Parlor Heist Foiled

A 13 and a 14 year-old tried to hold up a Whalley Avenue tattoo parlor Monday afternoon by pulling out an orange-tipped “gun.” Tattooists, unimpressed by the fake weapon, refused to give up cash. The teens fled. … A man was shot in the back outside Humphrey’s East Restaurant on Humphrey Street at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. … A 17 year-old from Westville was biking on Sherman Avenue near Percival Street at 1:51 a.m. Tuesday when someone called out his street name and fired shots at him, striking him in the lower leg. … And a female clerk at the Shell Station on Rt. 80 and Quinnipiac Avenue fended off a would-be robber Monday afternoon by hitting him with a hammer. The man, who police say has robbed the store twice before, has not yet been caught. M.B.
