Uma Traffic Detours
by Staff | August 17, 2006 12:34 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)
On weekdays from Monday, Aug. 21, through Tuesday, Aug. 29, the filming at Sheridan Middle School of Uma Thurman’s In Bloom will mean traffic headaches. Here’s info from a public service announcement about street closings and suggested detours:
“In Bloom,” a major motion picture will be filming at Sheridan Academy Middle School, located at 191 Fountain Street, for 7 consecutive weekdays beginning Monday, August 21st 2006 and concluding Tuesday, August 29th, 2006. On the following days there will be a closure and redirection of traffic in both directions on Fountain Street, between Emerson Street and Forest Street: Monday, August 21st, Tuesday, August 22nd and Thursday, August 24th. In addition, traffic will be intermittently held throughout the day on Wednesday, August 23rd. The above schedule is weather pending. Any changes will be posted on Variable Message Boards located at major intersections around Fountain Street. Please plan ahead for these closures and use alternate traffic routes to avoid congestion on or near Fountain Street.
The following are suggestions for alternate routes:
• Those wishing to travel west bound on Fountain Street should take Whalley Avenue to Dayton Street and turn left to reconnect with Fountain Street.
• Those wishing to travel east bound on Fountain Street can turn left on Dayton Street and turn right on Whalley Avenue; or turn right onto Forest Road taking southern routes around the closure.
• Those headed north on Forest Road can continue north on Dayton Street to Whalley Avenue.
All closures and intermittent holding of traffic will be conducted by the New Haven Police Department. Every effort will be made to prevent congestion and ensure a normal commute. Should you need assistance or have any questions, please call the Location Department at 203-708-9143. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
