For some of the hundreds of veterans in Connecticut who want to start (or restart) their own businesses, a gathering of government and private industry representatives on Monday at the Small Business Center at Gateway Community College provided a helpful push. Liz Bailey, a regional veterans’ employment representative for the state Department of Labor, said of the vets, “They will have some guidance and assistance so they won’t fall into that first year out of business category. There are support systems and all kinds of great resources for them to tap into so their businesses can be successful.” Bailey chatted with a veteran who heads one of the state’s chapters of Disabled Veterans.
