Back(packs) To School

by Staff | September 5, 2006 7:35 AM | | Comments (0)

School starts Wednesday in New Haven, and these kids are ready. The kids, who live at Christian Community Action’s Stepping Stone transitional housing facility for previously homeless families, received free backpacks filled with supplies from the state Department of Economic Development (DECD). DECD handed out 40 packs to kids at CCA’s Hill neighborhood emergency shelter and at Stepping Stone on Winchester Avenue. DECD’s Lindy Lee Gold handed out the packs to the Stepping Stone children pictured with her, from left: Adonis Duarte, Essense Jones, Alton Smalls (the tall boy in back), and Gary Miller.
