Will She Or Won’t She?

Rumors have been rife that, once the gubernatorial campaign ends, Mayor John DeStefano’s top-ranking aide will move to a different city job. Scuttlebutt has it that the aide, Chief of Staff Karen DuBois-Walton, would take the number-two slot at the housing authority; the rumors have become accepted fact in local government and political circles. DuBois-Walton, who’s running the city day to day while DeStefano circles the state campaigning for governor, flat-out denies it: “”What job? No— I’m still here at the mayor’s office, chief of staff. That rumor’s been out there a while.” So if she is in line for the job, she’s being, uh, less than forthcoming. Mayor DeStefano was more circumspect when asked Friday morning about the possible move. “I have nothing to comment on about that right now,” he said.
