Jolly Roger Ahead

by Paul Bass | September 22, 2006 6:01 AM |

Amid a clamor from some neighbors that he waited too long, Fair Haven Alderman Joe Jolly (pictured with family) has resigned his seat. As finance chair of the board Jolly helped shave a tax hike this year. He left town to attend Cornell Law School. Click here to read his resignation letter. A special election will take place most probably Nov. 7, one of three, in wards in which pro-City Hall aldermen have stepped aside mid-term. The Democratic candidates to replace Jolly include environmentalist and neighborhood activist Erin Pascale and City Hall opponent Evelyn DeJesus-Vargas. DeJesus-Vargas said she plans to run as an independent if she doesn’t get it.
