A Yale student on Elm Street and a 12 year-old boy in Beaver Hill were mugged, and a woman was raped in Fair Haven. Read on for details on recent crime, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Winchester.
A 12 year-old boy was walking in Beaver Hill, near Blake and Diamond Streets at 3 p.m. Tuesday when he was approached by two teens, about 14 to 15 years old. The teens tried to rob him, but he had no money. They left without injuring him.
Half an hour later, a male Yale student was robbed by two men in their 30s while he was walking near Elm and Platt Streets at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. One man asked the student for 50 cents. The other grabbed him by the throat. Finding the student had no money, the muggers took a folder of schoolwork and left.
And Tuesday at 11 p.m., a 54 year-old woman reported being raped by a man who pulled her into a yard on Peck Street in Fair Haven. She yelled “Help!” and the attacker ran away. Police had not found the suspect as of late Wednesday.
