It Worked

Responding to youth violence he saw on his beat in the Dixwell neighborhood, city cop Shafiq Abdussabur launched a program called CTRIBAT for 6 to 15 year-old boys in the neighborhood. Its events ranged from camping to a prison visit to tough talk about guns. A report being released Monday shows the results: The 55 kids involved this past summer had no problems with the law. And gun-related violence in general went down in the neighborhood. The data, and more findings, are in the report; click here to read it.

RIGHT ON!!!!
BROTHERS ABDUSSABUR and all other brothers that are actively playing a part in these the lives of these young brothers. It's about time that somrthing like this happens.Being a former resident of Newhalleville and Dixvell, the program that you have established is well needed in the community. When I was being raised in New Haven,we didn't have all this nonsence. When parents and old folks spoke, we listened and gave them respect. They passed down practical knowledge that has helped myself as well as many others thatwere
growing up in that time frame.
So once again I tip my hat to the brothers and sistah's that are trying to make a difference. To the young brothers and sistah's that are of age, Remeber this!!!"THE ADULTS IN YOUR LIFE,HAVE BEEN WHERE YOU ARE GOING" THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT LIFE. SO, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND " LISTEN AND GIVE RESPECT" "GET AN EDUCATION"!!!! YOU'LL NEED IT TO SUCEED IN LIFE"
