A man working in a sewer hole near 315 Sherman Ave. Wednesday morning found a suspicious-looking mailing tube. He called in the city bomb squad at 9:57 a.m. Traffic was snarled for an hour and a half near Sherman and Whalley Avenues as the bomb squad secured the scene and X-rayed the tube, finding only paper inside … Police arrested a 50 year-old man from Hamden after finding a gun and ammo in his car outside 6 Lombard St. Tuesday night. … And someone reported gunfire on the 60-70 block of Lodge Street in Westville Manor Tuesday night. A car had been shot up, but no victims were found, according to police. M.B.
