Heiwa Salovitz wants to volunteer his time on New Haven’s disabilities commission to help the community “lives up to the award it got in 2003 for being the all-American city,” for all people. He and 15 others asked aldermen for seats on city commissions Tuesday night, at a committee meeting that also featured discussion about how to go about naming streets after people.
