A wave that began in Connecticut swept across the country Tuesday night — but washed away from its starting point. As change-seeking Democrats toppled pro-Bush Republican incumbents, U.S. Senate candidate Ned Lamont fell decisively short in his quest to unseat incumbent Joe Lieberman, who will now rise from near political-death to one of the most powerful perches in Washington.
