Indian Vegan Cafe Readies Uptown Move

The most improbable of vegan restaurants — Imagin Cafe, tucked inside a photo store at 930 Chapel St., serving scrumptiously prepared and spiced nondairy vegetarian Indian wraps and soups, smoothies and ice cream — should have a home of its own by the end of next week. The cafe part (not the photo processing) moves to the corner of Chapel and Howe. It will expand to night hours, add a section with table service, and expand its menu to full-dinner options, according to Sudhir Shah, whose son owns the operation. The new restaurant’s name will be Ahimsa. That translates to compassion — and a happy belly.
