Three separate shootings occurred overnight Thursday, as well as a purse-snatching and robbery of a pizza delivery man. Read on for details, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Winchester.

A 17 year-old man told police he was walking a female companion home past Fresh’s barber shop at Whalley and Norton Avenues at 9:32 p.m. Thursday when two men walked past him, turned around and shot him twice in the abdomen.

Another man was shot in the abdomen, and a woman was punched in the face, during an attempted robbery at 3 a.m. Friday near 19-21 Maltby Place in Fair Haven. The couple resisted when four men with guns tried to rob them. Both victims were taken to Yale New-Haven Hospital.

And at 6:19 p.m. at 216 Newhall St., a man was shot in the foot.

Robberies

A woman was leaving her mother’s restaurant at 7:19 p.m. Thursday at Irving St. and Ellsworth Avenue when she was approached from behind by a lone man. He snatched her purse and fled.

And a pizza delivery man from A1 Pizza was intercepted by two masked gunmen as he attempted to make a delivery to a Monterey Place home at 10:42 p.m. Thursday. Assailants stole money, but not the pizza.
