Exhibit Revives Public Art & The “Average Citizen”

This painting used to hang in a Fair Haven school. It captures part of New Haven’s revolutionary history (the Goffe and Whalley escape) — and, hanging in a new exhibit at the New Haven Museum, it evokes a time when a different kind of revolution brought art closer to the people and helped artists earn a living amid a depression.
