Willie Greene is a funny guy. Why would New Haveners want a guy who couldn't even run a little community focused non-profit. The Dixwell Cummunity House has yet to recover from his leadership and mis-management. Why would New Havenrs give him access to an entire City. He should go sit down and have a drink with John Daniels, Wendell Harp and other losers that can't seem to mobilize the Black vote let alone other voters. New Haven is in for some good theater next year!

The Mayor needs to raise money, just to pay his bills for the campaign for Gov. He's used all the city jobs available as reward. So he'll need to cap raised. I say lower it. Let the candidates do it with public meetings and debates. I think all interested voters would be pleased to attend. Maybe the Mayor will be held accountable if he has to answer the tax payers directly. Citizens should be allowed to submit questions, which can be independently reviewed. the topics should include neighborhoods, schools, taxes, youth violence and scores of additional topics. A panel could be asssembled to review the questions and select appropriate ones, with no input from any candidate. Wouldn't that be a novel idea. Various locations in our renovated schools, just like Mayor's night out.
I believe the Mayor would refuse. The city is in a fiscal mess. Kids are killing kids. The poor and elderly are barely making it. We need an open forum and little else will do.
The only money made available should be for a rental cost during the meetings, so the city is paid. Printing should be done, on a very limited basis, and the only coverage should be CPTV and local papers. Maybe The Independent could help set up a blog for posting questions.

The article 'smells a rat'.( at least one) Dear John let the Rowland complicit Jodi Rell walk to the capital with his head in sand ...the political machine in new haven needs a shakeup, just look at Blake st. Please try the public financed election, as is, once. A review after and maybe adjustments would make sense then. Ben

To PinKbicycle: Being a supporter of Q the House and one who took the time to research the facts. Before speaking with him I thought he was arrogant and a know it all. He is just the opposite. He listens, he cares. I am parent that sent my chidren to Q house while Mr. Greene was there. He did a wonderful job. In fact there was never any mismanagement of the agency. There is no letter on file in the City of New Haven or the State of CT that supports your allegations. During his tenure he provided many programs that children and families benefited from. If you don't like the man that is all and well but to make such a statement is clearly unfair. I disagree with a lot of things that this man has done. However, I must say while I disagree with him om many issues he one of few in this city knows what it means to stand up and fight for what he believes in and what i find most impressive he has never asked for anything for himself. He is not responsible for the closing of the Q House. We did not support him or the agency as we should. We stood by quietly and watched as city officials stripped the agency of all its resources that led to its closing. We always go out of our way to kill those who have the courage to stand up and speak their minds. We need to have more men like him.
