AG Investigating Cottage St. Deal

Attorney General Blumenthal (pictured at right in this file photo) said Friday his office is looking into the “stomach-twisting” (in the words of a probate judge) handling of an East Rock widow’s estate, detailed in this Independent article. “We are looking into this estate. We are filing an appearance in probate court. And we are investigating,” Blumenthal said. “We’re concerned about some of the issues relating to bequests and charitable contributions.” Blumenthal’s office includes the state’s Public Charities Unit, which regulates charities.
