King: No Plans To Resign

Dixwell Alderman Drew King, on leave from his aldermanic seat due to criminal charges stemming from a fight that broke out over a hot dog, appeared in court Monday. The alderman maintains his innocence and says he has no plans to resign his seat.

King took time off from representing the Dixwell neighborhood after being arrested three times at the end of December for allegedly choking a woman over a dispute over a hot dog, then twice violating a protective order designed to keep him away.

King since entered a rehabilitation program.

Two months later, King, sitting alone in the back of a small hearing room on the third floor of New Haven’s Superior Court on Elm Street Monday, said he has no plans to resign his seat. How would he plea to the charges of third-degree assault, unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct for his initial arrest, as well as two counts of civil violation of a protective order? “I won’t plead guilty,” said King.

King’s attorney, John F. Buckley, said he had not yet determined how his client would plea. The case was continued to Feb. 27 without further action.

Still shaking my finger back and forward from December!!!

Ok every man is innocent till proven guilty.

I am glad he took the leave of absence.

Now if found guilty can he still keep his sit as alderman???

Alder King is one of nearly 20 alders that have no business holding elected office.

how long can new haveners ignore the fact that one-party rule, no matter the party, equals corruption?

this is another example of the pitiful state of the new haven board of aldermen, a body of yes-men and wholly incompetent Democratic party hacks. shame on Alder King, shame on the board of aldermen, shame on Mayor DeStefano and his hand picked puppets, shame on the Democratic party, and shame on all of you who voted for them.
