Fact: New Haven’s Educational Center for the Arts students are amazing. The latest news on that front: The National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts has given senior Maya Polan (at left in photo) of New Haven a $5,000 “Silver Award” for this short story. (Check it out.) The group has also nominated Polan as a “Presidential Scholar in the Arts.” Errin Gaulin (at right) of New Haven won a Merit Award from the group; click here for a sample. Kayla Satmaria (center), who commutes to ECA on Audubon Street from Cheshire, also won a Merit Award, for non-fiction writing.
