Six City Workers Laid Off

Despite this man’s last-minute effort to save them from sudden layoffs, six city workers will lose their jobs Friday. The six women from Livable Cities Initiative, the finance department and Public Works, whose positions were funded by diminishing federal grants, gained a temporary extension of benefits in a deal sealed Thursday.
