Y-NHH Fights Moves North

With labor and community relations at a low point at Yale-New Haven Hospital, opponents have raised two bills designed to hold hospitals like Yale-New Haven accountable (actually, Yale-New Haven itself) in the state legislature’s Judiciary Committee. This one would increase oversight of hospitals that receive large amounts of public funds. This one enforces the charitable purpose of nonprofit hospitals. Those issues dogged Yale-New Haven during the last round of tussling with New Haven, before a reprieve that lasted until the hospital was caught violating a peace agreement in December.
