Commissioners Briefed On Narc Scandal

The Independent’s Vincent Vitkowsky reports from 1 Union Ave. that the Board of Police Commissioners met Friday afternoon for a two-hour briefing from Chief Ortiz on the ongoing FBI bribery and theft investigation of city narcotics cops. Board chief Rick Epstein (pictured in file photo) said the commissioners basically were filled in on all the information already out in the public. Because of the stormy weather the board lacked a quorum; it will meet again next week to decide on what if any steps to take next.
