Medical Technician Stabbed With Scissors

Emergency officials responding to a psychologically unstable, weapon-bearing 18-year-old at 192 Clinton Ave. on Saturday afternoon emerged from the situation with minor wounds, but no shots fired. As a techician from American Medical Response approached to help, the male teen wielded scissors and stabbed the medic in the neck. Police Officer Edwin Dejesus came onto the scene, at which point the teen tried to grab his gun from the holster, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Winchester.
Several officers stepped in and were able to “contain” the teenager, who remains in the hospital under psych watch and under arrest for assaulting a medical technician, among other charges. The officer and the medic were treated and released from St. Raphael’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Read on for more weekend crime, according to Winchester.
The Shell Gas Station on Willow Street, which was held up at gunpoint once last year, was hit again Monday at 1:09 a.m. A clerk called police saying he had been shot in the head. He told police a man had come into the store wearing a full mask and gloves, displaying a gun, and demanding cash. When the clerk “didn’t give him enough” cash, he proceeded to search for more. He told the clerk to get down on the ground. When he “didn’t immediately” comply, the perp fired shots at the clerk, one of which apparently grazed his skull.
Newhallville also saw two robberies this weekend: A man was mugged Saturday night at 76 Sheffield St., and a pizza delivery man was robbed of three sub sandwiches and money by a man with brass knuckles at 27 Brewster St.
