Cops Trample Photog Rights, Cont’d

The Advocate’s Daniel Smith has taken photos undisturbed in Iraqi war zones. Here in New Haven, he shot photos (like the one above) of police making arrests of drunken mayhem-makers at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade— and found himself threatened with arrest. This appears to be a larger problem with authorities unschooled in the Constitution — such as this case involving a West Haven cop throwing his weight around in Westville (scroll to the end of the story), and this case involving a Hillhouse High School security official (and a city cop who did respect a photographer’s rights).
