Ambulance Driver Breaks Up Assault

A 47-year-old man was walking up Dixwell Avenue near West Ivy Street at 9:05 p.m. Monday when five teens crossed the street and began hitting him with bottles and sticks. The teens, wearing fatigue jackets, took two twenty dollar bills from the man’s pockets as they beat him. The assault was interrupted when an ambulance passed by and flipped on its lights and sirens to scare the teens away.

A man and a woman were slashed with box cutters in a fight at a downtown bus stop Monday at 3:13 p.m. The male victim first got into a verbal confrontation with a man at Church and Chapel Streets. Then the man returned with four others, attacking the victim and his girlfriend near the bus stop at Temple and Elm Streets. The couple was hit and slashed with box cutters, and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A man was working alone at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 81 Church St. Tuesday at 4:44 a.m. when two masked men entered the store with guns. They robbed the till at gunpoint.

A Nissan was shot up, and six bullet casings found, outside 20 Judson Ave. in the West River area Monday at 6:43 p.m. Several male teens on bikes fled the area at the time of gunfire.
