Guerrilla Poets Invade Chapel Street

In celebration of National Poetry Month, students from the Educational Center for the Arts’ poetry class took to the streets, sharing poems in recitations and sidewalk chalk.

The “guerrilla poetry” action took place Thursday afternoon in friendly territory, near Atticus (which has been offering “Bread for Poems” in an open mic on Fridays during April; today’s the last day).

And click on the play arrow here to watch Jane Youngberg read “04/07/07”.

Four days remain, meanwhile, in the Independent’s New Haven Poetry Month Contest. Send us your poem about New Haven here — we’ll videotape the winner and give him or her an Independent mug.
