In a second shooting near the embattled Taurus CafĂ© in five months, a 26-year-old man was shot in the groin a block from the club early Monday. Police found him at Winchester and Starr Streets shortly after 12:24 a.m. Monday. The victim told police he had been in a fight at the Taurus with several unknown males. Meanwhile, the city’s uphill battle to shut down the club continue, with another hearing set for Wednesday in Hartford.
Read on for more details, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Posick.
At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a man crashed his car into someone’s living room at 728 Quinnipiac Ave. The suspect tried to flee, but neighbors ran after him. When police arrived on the scene, a fight had erupted between the man and those who detained him, and several arrests were made. The family who lived there was relocated to the Days Inn.
Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, a guy at 20 Anderson St. saw someone vandalizing his home with spraypaint. When he emerged to stop the vandal, he was struck over the head with a flowerpot, and was treated for a laceration to the head.

The police really need to take action against the recent wave of graffiti.
Residential as well as commercial properties have been inflicted with thousands of dollars in damage over the past few weeks.
It may not be a priority compared to shootings, but the old adage says that graffiti is the head of the beast when it comes to urban crime.
