A 24-year-old city man sleeping in a room at 20 Brookside Ave. in West Rock was found unresponsive at 7:36 a.m. Thursday. Emergency officials took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials saw no signs of trauma or foul play, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Posick.

Wednesday night at 9:12, a 17-year-old man was riding his bicycle outside 32 Lander St. in Newhallville when someone came up in a car and shot him in the rear.

The victim of a robbery turned the tables on his perpetrators Wednesday, following them in a high-speed chase until they crashed their vehicle. The victim was at Sheffield Avenue and Huntington Street when two men tried to rob him.

The victim chased them in their car, into Hamden, back to New Haven, finally ending in a roll-over crash back over the Hamden line at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday. Perpetrators, who had two guns in their car, were charged in the robbery. The driver, a 25-year-old man, was charged with robbery and gun charges, as well as reckless driving. His passenger was 18 years old.
