Taking breaks from writing his graduate dissertation on aging bacteria, David Kysela (pictured) combed the Independent for typos. “It’s those little breaks that keep me sane,” he said, collecting his trophy mug this week for winning the latest Independent typo-catching contest. Kysela studies Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale. He lives in Fair Haven, right across the street from two-time typo-catching champ Jonathan Boulware. “We’ll have to get together and drink beer in them,” Kysela said, holding his new mug.
