Register Tips Off Paper Deliverer

A newspaper delivery man was making his route in the pre-dawn haze Sunday morning when he noticed a cash register lying on the ground. He called police, who identified the cash register as discarded bounty from an overnight raid on the Tire Doctor store at 470 Ella T Grasso Blvd. As of Monday police had not concluded exactly what had been stolen.

A woman was outside 42 Edwards St. Saturday at 6:16 p.m. when two men approached, punched her, kicked her to the ground and tried to steal her purse. She held tight to the purse and did not surrender it. The assailants fled. She was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital for her injuries.

Saturday at 4:22 p.m. at the Walgreens at 451 Foxon Blvd., four teens threatened a man with a knife then took his bike.

Friday at 9:27 p.m., a woman was standing at the bus stop at 89 Union Ave. outside the Church Street South housing complex when a man approached and asked her for the time. He then began grabbing her purse until she let it go. He fled into the housing project.
