They Care. You Can, Too

Near this very spot, a young person was gunned down. Last week people of faith congregated there to reclaim the spot and urge men to take leadership, as part of a new weekly Christian Community Commission “We Care Street Tour.” Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. the tour hits Shepard and Huntington in Newhallville from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Meanwhile, check out these videos of last week’s stop, taken by Tom Ficklin of Empower New Haven (a partner in the Commission). Can we please retire the meaningless "people of faith" phrase. The murderers who flew the planes into the World Trade Center were "people of faith" as are the couple who recently put their child in the microwave oven, KKK members, the Crusaders, Jihadists, as are a lot of thugs walking around with crucifixes swinging from gold chains, suicide bombers, "honor" killers, the late, but not missed Jerry Foulwell [sic] - all "people of faith", ad nauseum. It seems that "faith" appears counter to promoting peace and a non-violent world. I think that most rational people want to live in a world free from violent coercion and murder. "Nothing fails like prayer."
