New Haven State Sen. Marty Looney and other gun-control advocates were celebrating when, shortly after midnight, the legislature passed a bill requiring gun owners to report their guns lost or stolen within 72 hours of discovering them missing. Great - penalize legal, registered gun owners who have been robbed/burglarized. Now, how about making it a crime for people who have been shot to not cooperate with the police; or making it a crime to let your kid run around shooting and assaulting people; or making it a crime to say you didn't see or hear anything when shots have been fired and you clearly heard or saw something...

Okay, so "owners to report their guns lost or stolen within 72 hours of discovering them missing" means that this whole 'law' is useless, doesnt it?
I mean, when did you discover them missing, oh, I dont know, less than 72 hours ago?
First of all its ridiculous to hold a gun owner responsable for whats done with his stolen arms. Unless Im expected to be omniscient or take my entire collection with me on vacation. Second, the whole thing is rendered moot by the "owners to report their guns lost or stolen within 72 hours of discovering them missing" bit.
So whats the point beyond token legislation to impress a voting body in Ct that apparently has no idea what guns, gun owners, and criminals and illegaly owned guns are? There is no deeper purpose to this idiotic 'law.'
God, I hate CT.
