Ideat Village — an art and music spree separate from, but simultaneous to the Arts & Ideas fest — has been wreaking its inspired madness downtown. Click here for information about events this coming week, including a local filmfest at the Book Trader Cafe on Thursday night, a Psycho Beach Party movie shoot at Lighthouse Park on Friday, and Saturday night’s finale at the GPSCY. Click here to watch Jenn D’s slide show of the “Urban Jungle” event, which featured skateboard demos, deejays, and “live graffiti.”

Ideat Village is by far the best and most creative festival New Haven has to offer. In contrast to the Jazz Festival, Summer concert series and Arts & Ideas, it features almost exclusively local talent and it doesn't cost the taxpayers one penny. Hats off to Bill, Nancy and the rest of the crew for another great one. Long live the Ideats!!

thanks for posting my pics! I am happy to be a part of ideat village year after year! I agree - Bill and Nancy should be commended for their ferocious efforts on keeping art local, living and free. It never ceases to amaze me what a great community we are in the center of!! more pics to come...spread love! jd

so daniel, what's your story? elaborate on your perceived lameness of the event. i checked you out and saw you ran for the house of representatives. are you harboring a little guilty party hatoration?

Mr. Sumrall: Who are you to call this lame? You know what's really lame? 1.56% of the vote -- now that's lame. Insulting local artists is not going to help bring you over the 2% mark.

Ideat Village is my favorite thing in New Haven. I got some pictures at a couple of the other events, if anyone's interested:
