Burglars Scared Off

A 15-year-old boy was home alone at 507 Whitney Ave. at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when he heard a knock on the door. He didn’t answer it. Minutes later, he saw a 25 to 30-year-old man in an upstairs bedroom. The burglar fled, stealing nothing, when he realized someone was home.

Residents at an Oxford Street home in the Annex heard a noise in the kitchen at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday. Someone had broken into the house. The perp fled when noticed.

Three shell casings were found at Orchard and Edgewood at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said a male teen on a bike had fired the gun. No suspects were arrested.

Police reported to 36 Maltby Place in Fair Haven at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday to find the street “filled with people yelling and screaming.” One victim had been stabbed in the back. No arrests had been made as of midday Wednesday.

Someone was walking near 216 Dixwell Ave. at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday when five to six males on bikes tried to mug the victim, displaying a silver gun. The victim hid and escaped being mugged.

Witnesses told police gunshots were fired by a group of 15 teens on bikes who were riding near Newhallville’s Ivy Street Wednesday at 12:50 a.m. Four bullet casings were found.

And a man was robbed of his gold chain and $600 at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday at Whalley Avenue and County Street, according to Avery.
