Journey To The Lost City

Coop High School senior Cynthia Green and her brother Henry, a junior (pictured here in his Marine cadet fatigues), are heading off on a mission trip to the Peru with six adult members of Church on the Rock Monday.
Church Pastor Todd Foster sent in this write-up and these photos. (To send us news and photos about your organization or community events, click here.)
The five-day journey will bring them to the town of Urubamba for a church building project and visit to a local orphanage. Urubamba which means “Flat land of Spiders” in Quechua is a small town in Peru, located near the Urubamba River. The town is located near a number of significant ruins of the Inca Empire and frequently houses tourists visiting those sites.
At the end of the week, they plan to visit nearby Machu Picchu, the incredible “Lost City” of the Incas.
Pastor Todd Foster, senior pastor of Church on the Rock says, “Cynthia and Henry are two very special young people. It’s a privilege for us to be able to invest in their lives and expand their horizons. Too many of our kids never get to see very much beyond the boundaries of New Haven. This is a wonderful experience that they won’t soon forget.”
As long as the cell phones work, the team will be posting audio feed to a mobile blog during the week to keep friends, family and other interested parties up to date on their exploits.
