Victim: Samurai Sword Flew Over Bad Drug Deal

A woman was sitting with her 4-year-old grandchild in a front room of 724 Congress Ave. at 1:38 a.m. Sunday when a bullet flew through the window. No one was hurt. Police later found a 9mm bullet casing outside a nearby home at 767 Congress.
Read on for more details, according to Officer Joseph Avery.
Two Hamden brothers told police they came to New Haven to buy marijuana, but were slashed with a samurai sword when the deal went bad. They called police at midnight Saturday night, saying they had driven to Bassett Street and Sherman Avenue to buy weed. Here’s how their story went: They tried to buy the drugs, but the drug-dealer took their $20 and didn’t give them the goods. The brothers left the scene, but then returned later to confront the man who ripped them off.
“The perpetrator did not take kindly to being called a thief, and pulled out a samurai sword.” He started swinging it. He slashed one of the brother’s hands, leaving some fingers 90 percent severed. The brothers returned to Hamden and called police.

Since the narc unit has been disbanded due to rampant corruption the city should use the money that once funded them to train an elite ninja force to combat the sword wielding pot dealers. While we're at it lets pump in Top Gun-esque guitar solos during the ninja-samurai battles.
It's not like an NHPD ninka squad is any more ridiculous than anything the city is currently occupied with.

I fended off a mugger with my bamboo kendo sword (on my way home to the Hill from a Yale Kendo team practice). They wanted to steal my gym clothes.
the new haven police showed up (4 of them), and told me I'd be unable to identify the perpetrators--"they all look the same"--and that they were far too busy with (no joke) "Domestic abuse cases".
Meanwhile, the 3 perps sat 2 blocks away, on a stone wall, watching it all go down, while the police sat in front of my place for a full hour! with their lights on. I had to close my windows & blinds to sleep with all the lights.
I'm glad I don't live there anymore. I know now never to call the police. I'd hate to have them tell every crook in the neighborhood where I live again.
Too bad I didn't own a samurai sword. Then maybe I would have been in the media!!

Actually, you are lucky you did not get arrested for defending yourself.
