Cops Probe Triple Shooting

Police Monday morning were investigating a triple shooting in the Hill Sunday night. At 11:58 p.m., three people at Congress Avenue and Redfield Street were sprayed with bullets, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery. The victims, two men and a woman, survived the night in varying conditions.

The three victims, none of whom knew each other, were outside the Fast Food Deli on Congress Avenue when they were shot from across the street, according to district manager Sgt. Holly Wasilewski.

Hit the worst was a 25-year-old man from West Haven, who remains in “guarded” condition after being shot in the stomach. A 26-year-old city man is in stable condition after being shot in the arm, torso and leg. And a 31-year-old city woman was treated and released after being shot in the knee. No suspects have been arrested.

Read on for more crime details, according to Avery.

A day earlier, another man was shot off Congress Avenue: A 24-year-old man who lives on that street was shot in the calf on West Street near Congress Saturday at 7:41 p.m. No witnesses have come forward. Wasilewski said police believe the incident is unrelated to the triple shooting.

And Saturday at 12:20 a.m., a man went to the store to get a pack of cigarettes. He encountered a male and female, who robbed him at knifepoint of his cell, pendant and ring at Newhallville’s Winchester Ave and Hazel Street.
