A pizza delivery man was bringing pies to Westville’s Dayton Street at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday when two men approached him, stuck an object in his back and demanded money. He gave them $50. The men, wearing black hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans, fled.
Read on for more crime details, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.
At 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, someone was robbed at gunpoint on Fair Haven’s Atwater Street.
And gunshots were reported at 11:47 p.m. Tuesday on Shelton Avenue, but police found no evidence to substantiate the report.

There seems to be an uptick in muggings and gunfire on Atwater Street, Clinton Street, and Grand Avenue. I strongly urge the police to target this piece of a neighborhood for review and some real community policing. There's probably a new resident or a new family that is committing these muggings and the gunfire. Maybe the watchful (and organized) neighbors around Chatham Square have an idea of who might be causing the trouble? In any case, it's time for the police to canvas the neighbors for ideas, since the continuation of these dangerous crimes is unacceptable. Does someone have to die first?

My neighbors and I heard the gunshots at 11:47 Tuesday night. There were 6 all together.

"A man escaped gunfire after two men tried to mug him at 12:05 a.m. Thursday at Ferry and Chambers Streets in Fair Haven. The two men hit him in the head with a gun. When the victim fled, perps fired a half-dozen bullets at him. He escaped unscathed except for a slash in his forhead where he was hit."
Another example of recent events in our neck of the woods. I don't remember this many muggings in a short period, and I've lived here for 15 years. Chief Ortiz, district superviosrs, are you listening to the neighbors yet?
