Two city men are recovering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds this morning. Read on for more details, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery.

Gunshots went off at 101 Bassett St. in Newhallville at 8:59 p.m. Monday. A short time later, a 32-year-old victim walked into St. Raphael’s Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim, from Sherman Avenue, told police he had been visiting Newhallville speaking with a man and a woman in a car outside 101 Bassett when a round of shots went off.

Over in Fair Haven at 11:01 p.m. Monday, a man was shot in an apparent armed robbery at Pine and Ferry Streets. The man, 32, told police he was walking east on Pine Street towards Ferry Street when three men coming the other way approached him with a gun. He resisted robbery, pushed their gun away and fled. As he ran off, they fired shots after him, hitting him in the hip and rear.

re: Fair Haven Shooting

I live blocks from the latest shooting. About a week ago I was driving near where the shooting took place and I saw a group of guys that were hiding looking like they were getting ready to jump someone. I called the police (what do you think they did?). Later, an officer asked me, "how do you know they weren't playing hide and go seek?"
