WPCA to Wendell Harp: Pay Up!
by Melissa Bailey | August 15, 2007 1:06 PM | Permalink | Comments (2)
Wendell Harp (pictured at right), the developer, architect and political powerbroker, has failed to pay over $33,000 in sewer bills on properties his company owns in the Hill, according to lawsuits filed by the Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority.
In lawsuits filed last week in state Superior Court, the WPCA went after Harp’s company, Renaissance Hill Limited Partnership, for allegedly using New Haven’s sewers at five properties without paying.
The properties in question sit on a block not far from Yale-New Haven’s medical campus in the Hill. The WPCA seeks foreclosure of sewer liens on: 16, 17, 19 and 20 Vernon St., and 122 Davenport Ave.
The buildings appear to be occupied rentals run by Renaissance management (and visited by the likes of Zanaiya Williamson, who sat on the porch waiting for a friend on Monday).
The WPCA seeks a total $33,370.28 for the delinquent sewer dues, plus the cost of bringing the matter to court.
Harp, husband of New Haven State Sen. Toni Harp, did not respond to phone messages left on work and home phones.

Wendell Harp again, this the same Harp who in May of 2000 sold a decrepit 24 unit building @ 187 Dixwell Ave. to DeStafano and then Corp counsel Thayer Balwin, and the city, for $485,000 in bond money, in order for the HANH to then buy it from the city. The city at that time had to pick up back taxes and late water and sewer fees in order for the HANH to build a portion of Montery Place @ Dixwell.
There's quiet a file on you Mr. Harp for not paying property taxes on many of your buildings through-out the years.
Now your at it again, attempting to dodge a sewer tab of 33K. Pay up Wendell, Unless of course, you put the sewer charge responsibility in the tenant's lease!

Mr. Harp is on on the Democratic Town Committee. He also owes unpaid car taxes. What a leader.
