Youth Action on Minor Street
by Staff | August 16, 2007 4:45 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)
(Submitted by organizers with the Hill Youth Action Team): The Hill Youth Action Team (HYAT) youth leaders did a street clean up in
the Hill neighborhood Tuesday.
The younger children from Casa Latina also helped to clean up Minor Street and the
back parking lot and driveway connecting to Columbus Avenue.
Carlos I. (Livable City Initiative) and Joe R. (Hill Dev. Corp) helped to provide the
cleanup supplies, along with donations from the Bunnell Hardware Store on Orange
Street in New Haven. The Hill Youth Action Team is the youth leadership group
collaborating with the Hill Neighborhood Forum - an inspiring group of Hill residents
determined to make the Hill a better place to live. HYAT sent representatives to the
Mayor’s open hours last week, and as a result this week met with Che Dawson, Deputy
Chief of Staff from the Mayor’s office (quick action!) and on Thursday, August 16th
the HYAT high school youth leaders meet at 10:30 a.m. with an Alderwoman from the
Hill. The HYAT is making a difference for teens (and all of us) in New Haven’s Hill
neighborhood.
